KIDAN (R2)

"We are not the decendants of Adam . . . ." They said no one could make Daijiro Morohoshi's classic horror manga "Seimei no Ki" into a movie, but they were very, very wrong. This epic story focuses on the other humanity made by God, and the startling mystery of their history. Hows that for a storyline! This film has some truly stunning visuals, a large dose of over the top christian symbolism, and we have the impression will be utterly incomprehensable. But boy we want to see it! Bare in mind this is the Japanese R2 edition, and as far as we see there are no English subs on that release (Darn!) Heres hoping for a R3 version with subtitles very soon.

Vampire Cop Ricky (R3)

He's a Cop, He's a Vampire, and his names 'Ricky' what more can be said. I Had to cover it for that alone! ``Vampire Cop Ricky,’’ is an action comedy about a policeman who turns into a vampire driven by sexual urges and a thirst for blood. 'Kim Su-ro' plays Na Do-yol, an obnoxious detective who doesn’t mind bending the law for a little cash. Do-yol’s extra income comes from his questionable relationship with the owner of an illegal gambling establishment, played with the right amount of sleaze by Son Byung-ho. Do-yol’s plush life gets turned upside down when he is bitten by a vampire mosquito from Transylvania. Though the tiny bite isn’t enough to make the detective into a full vampire, it does give him certain bloodsucking traits, including an inappropriate desire to lick things at a murder scene. Priceless!

A Chinese Tall Story (R3)

As soon as you open the official sites main page you will certainly get an idea of what to expect regards this totally mad film. Make sure you have your sound on, as the first thing you get hit with is the insanely catchy Bhangra music. A loose adaptation of the classic novel "Journey to the West", A Chinese Tall Story updates the story of the Monkey King with a hot young cast, imaginative costume designs, and unbelievable visual effects. But the biggest change of all: the movie isn't really about the Monkey King! Instead it focuses on the Tang monk, Tripitaka (Nicholas Tse), who experiences his own adventure after his stalwart companions Piggy (Kenny Kwan, formerly of Boy'z), Sandy (Stephen Cheung of Boy'z), and Monkey King Sun Wukong (Wilson Chen) get taken hostage by an evil Tree Demon.

The Dark (R1)

In the tradition of 'The Ring' comes this frightening psychological thriller 'The Dark' starring Sean Bean and Maria Bello in this disturbing psychological thriller about as estranged couple in a Welsh village tries to cope with the drowning death of their young daughter, but events take a strange and chilling turn when a girl with an eerie resemblance to the child appears and tells them that she has been dead for 60 years. The film looks great. Dark brooding and some stunning photography of the Isle of Man's coastline. The website for the film on the other hand was a nighmare to navigate! Eventually I tracked down a viewable trailer on Virgin.net.
